Teekay Couplings were established in 1961 as a UK distributor for North American pipework systems.
In 1975, they were the first to market in the UK with polybutylene pipework systems for both industrial and domestic use, and they continued to evolve their product portfolio.
1978 saw the development of their first Axiflex coupling, and over the next two decades came their patented Stepped, Axilock and Plastlock couplings.
Teekay Couplings has gone from strength to strength and continued to grow, and have now been manufacturing their top quality pipe couplings for well over 30 years.
The Teekay Couplings range consists of couplings, adaptors and repair couplings for the connection of plastic and metal pipework, which can be installed without the requirement for threading, welding, flanging or grooving of the pipe, saving installation time, space and weight.
These products are available to suit pipe sizes of 40mm up to 315mm, covering pressures of up to 16 bar, in both above and below ground applications. Type 1 is for above ground use whereas type 2 denotes below ground.
The Axilock couplings have two anchor rings placed apart from, but adjacent to the sealing mechanism and they lock in place by penetrating the rubber sealing lips as they are tightened biting into the pipe preventing it from pulling apart. The seal also presses against the pipe, simultaneously, to protect the anchor rings as well as the sections of pipe being sealed.
The Axiflex couplings have two sealing lips at either end of the fitting that press against the pipes to form the seal that allows for pipe expansion and contraction throughout varying pressures.
