FloPlast Black ABS Solvent Weld Waste

Introduction

The ABS Solvent Weld Waste System offers a lightweight yet robust and cost-effective solution for soil and waste applications. Designed to meet the rigorous demands of both domestic and commercial plumbing installations, this system is manufactured from Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) and conforms to BS EN 1455-1:2000 and BS 5255:1989 standards. With a smooth, high-gloss finish and excellent impact resistance, it ensures durability and a long service life.

Application

The ABS Solvent Weld Waste System is suitable for a variety of waste drainage applications, including:

  • Kitchen and bathroom waste disposal
  • High and low-temperature waste systems within buildings
  • Use in refurbishment and new build projects
  • This system is particularly effective in installations where a high-strength, chemically resistant waste solution is required.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Lightweight yet durable – Easy to handle and install while maintaining high impact resistance.
  • Cost-effective – Offers a balance between affordability and performance.
  • High-performance solvent weld jointing – Provides secure, leak-free connections when used with SC125/SC250 Solvent Cement.
  • Chemical resistance – Resistant to a range of domestic and industrial chemicals.

Installation Overview

Preparation:

  • Cut the pipe to the required length using a fine-toothed saw.
  • Remove any burrs and chamfer the pipe end to ensure a smooth connection.
  • Dry-fit the components to check alignment before solvent welding.

Solvent Welding:

  • Clean the mating surfaces using an appropriate cleaning fluid.
  • Apply SC125/SC250 Solvent Cement evenly to both the pipe and fitting.
  • Insert the pipe into the fitting fully and rotate it slightly to ensure an even distribution of cement.
  • Hold the joint in place for a few seconds to allow initial bonding, then wipe away excess cement.

Setting Time:

  • Allow at least 5 minutes before handling.
  • The system should not be subjected to pressure for 12 hours to ensure full bonding.

Support & Fixing:

  • Vertical Installations: Secure pipe clips at 1.2m intervals.
  • Horizontal Installations: Secure pipe clips at 0.5m (32mm & 40mm) or 0.6m (50mm) intervals.
  • Conduct a water test to check for leaks before finalising the installation.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and free from defects.
