Useful Information
What is a Wall Seal Used For?
The Fernco (previously known as Flexseal) Moulded Wall Seal, is specifically designed for creating a watertight seal in concrete structures where pipes pass through. This type of seal is particularly useful in applications like manholes and catch pits, ensuring that no moisture can penetrate the structure at the pipe entry points.
Key Features

- High Angular Deflection Tolerance: Accommodates a significant level of angular movement in the joint, enhancing the seal's flexibility and durability.
- Quick and Easy Installation: Designed for straightforward installation without the need for lubricants on the seal itself.
- Versatile Material Compatibility: Suitable for a variety of pipe materials and outside diameters.
- Standards Compliance: Each seal meets the requirements of BS EN 681-1:1996 for vitrified clay pipes and fittings.
Specifications
- Size Range: Available for pipe diameters starting from 40mm.
- Material: Made from EPDM, with Nitrile options available upon request.

How and Where to Install a Wall Seal
Installing the Fernco Moulded Wall Seal involves:
- Fitting the Seal: Press the wall seal into the hole in the concrete structure. Avoid using lubricant on the seal.
- Preparing the Pipe: Chamfer the edge of the connecting pipe and apply lubricant to the pipe, not the seal.
- Pipe Insertion: Centre and push the pipe into the seal, ensuring that the pipe end is flush with the inner wall of the structure.
