Emery Cloth

During the process of manufacture, a thin layer of film is left on the surface of the PVC pipe and in the sockets of the PVC fittings and valves. This has to be removed during assembly and the best way of achieving this is through lightly abrading the surface layer of the pipe and in the fitting and valve sockets. The object is not to remove material but only to roughen up the surface. You should then apply PVC MEK cleaing fluid in preparation of the solvent cement.
