Prevost Aluminium Fittings

Introduction
Prevost Aluminium Fittings are integral to the Prevost Piping System (PPS), designed for high-performance compressed air and fluid distribution networks. These fittings are engineered to ensure leak-free, efficient, and durable connections, making them an ideal choice for industrial and commercial applications. Their lightweight 100% aluminium construction offers corrosion resistance, minimal pressure loss, and quick assembly, setting them apart from traditional piping materials.

Applications

  • Manufacturing plants – Powering pneumatic tools and automated systems.
  • Workshops and garages – ensuring reliable compressed air supply for machinery.
  • Food & beverage processing – delivering contamination-free air.
  • Pharmaceuticals & laboratories – maintaining clean and dry air quality.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 100% Aluminium Construction – Lightweight yet strong, ensuring high durability, with PPS grip it ensures secure, leak free connection with a stainless steel gripping ring.
  • High Flow Rate – Smooth internal surface for optimised laminar flow.
  • Corrosion Resistance – Internal and external protective coatings to prevent oxidation.
  • Quick & Easy Assembly – Simple push-fit installation with minimal tooling required.
  • Thermal Expansion Compensation – Flexible hose and expansion kits accommodate temperature variations.
  • Oil Compatibility – Resistant to compressor lubricants and other industrial oils.

Technical Specification

  • Material: Extruded aluminium, alloy EN AW 6063 T6 (RoHS compliant), Electrostatic paint for enhanced durability.
  • Operating Pressure: -0.98 bar to +16 bar.
  • Temperature Range: -20°C to +80°C.
  • Pipe Diameter Options: 16 to 160 mm.
  • Leak-Proof Sealing: A double-lobed, lubricated seal ensures long-lasting airtight connections.
  • Weight Density: 2.7 kg/dm³ – significantly lighter than steel alternatives.
  • Compatibility: Suitable for compressed air, vacuum, and neutral gases.

Installation Overview

Installing Prevost Aluminium Fittings follows a simple yet effective six-step process:

  • Cut the Pipe: Ensure a clean, perpendicular cut for a precise fit. Smooth the pipe edges to facilitate insertion and prevent seal damage using a chamfer and deburring tool.
  • Insert the Pipe: Use markings to verify correct positioning, and apply a lubricated spray (non-aggressive) for easy fitting. Loosen the locking nut, then twist and push the pipe into the fitting.
  • Tape: Use PTFE tape on male threads unless a seal is supplied.
  • Tighten Securely: Hand-tighten, then use the PPS1 CLE key and torque wrench to make sure the pipe is secure, clamping every 3 metres may be necessary to ensure a strong bind.

Once all fittings are tightened, set the compressor at 2 BAR and run for 5 minutes, then check each fitting for leaks, adjust if needed, and repeat the test at 8 BAR.

For larger pipe diameters or high-pressure applications, sliding clamps and expansion joints may be required to allow for thermal expansion.
